Summer Children’s Theater Camp

Porchlight Players will host its 17th Summer Children’s Theater Camp June 9-27, 2025 in Gypsum, a workshop-inspired camp which incorporates theater skills, dance & movement, and public speaking while producing Seussical JR from MTI’s Broadway Jr. collection. The Cat in the Hat narrates the story of Horton the Elephant, who discovers a speck of dust containing tiny people called the Whos. Horton must protect the Whos from a world of naysayers and dangers, and he must also guard an abandoned egg that's been left in his care by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird. Although Horton faces ridicule, danger and a trial, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in him. Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family and community are challenged and emerge triumphant! The show will be performed Friday, June 27th at 6:00 PM at the Lundgren Amphitheater in Gypsum, and it is free!

Registration for 2025 Summer Children’s Theater Camp will begin March 15th for new participants, and pre-registration will open for past performers March 1st. Tuition will be $425 for three weeks of camp, Mon.-Fri., 9am-3:30pm. Campers must have finished 3rd through 8th grade by the end of the school year to be eligible for registration.
